Run to Jesus (Sermon by Dr. Charles Stanley included)

Sundays are hard.  Last Sunday I attended my daughter’s church, and the service was great but difficult.  It had been a month since my dad passed.  During the music portion of the worship service, I did something I haven’t done in years:  not sing.  I love to sing.  I wanted to, but my heart was overcome.  I knew that if I opened my mouth, the tears were going to flow.  It is quite fine to cry in church, but this wasn’t the time.  When we sang “It is Well with My Soul”, it was almost too much.  When I go to worship , I am in God’s house and the presence of God.  All my walls start to fall down.  So, I kept silent while my heart sang, wondering how many other people feel the same way on any given Sunday.

I love Dr. Charles Stanley.  As I was getting ready for church this morning, I listen to a portion of his sermon on TV.  Dr. Stanley did something that I can’t recall seeing him do while preaching onstage.  He choked up.  He choked up when he said, “I can’t imagine loving someone with all my heart and have them pass away and know that I would never, never, ever see them again.”  Me either.  As I sat by my dad this summer in the hospital room, I thought many times about how my two “dads” will soon be together: my heavenly One and my earthly one.  When I enter heaven someday, I will run to see my daddy, but greater still I will run to see my King Jesus.  My time will beat any Olympic athlete’s.

My dad and I

Do you know Jesus?  God’s Word says that the ONLY way to God is through a relationship with Jesus Christ.  You can have peace now and for all eternity.  Only Jesus saves. Only Jesus.

I am sharing this sermon with you as an encouragement for those of us who are believers and for a hopefully a life changing moment for those who have not been clear on who Jesus is and want to consider the peace He offers, the only peace there is.

Your Convictions About the Resurrection of Jesus Christ by Dr. Charles Stanley

Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”  John 14:6

“If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.”  Romans 10:9

Change your life today.  Nothing else matters.
